How to add a Sync2Cal calendar to Calendars 5 by Readdle
Subscribe using Apple Calendar on your iPhone or iPad, then enable Local Calendars in Calendars 5. Check that you mean Readdle’s app before following these steps.
These instructions are for Calendars 5 by Readdle on iPhone or iPad. If your app is only labelled Calendar 5, check its full name or developer first. A similarly named app may have different instructions.
1. Add the calendar as an iOS subscription
Copy the subscription link from your Sync2Cal setup flow. Open Apple Calendar on that device, tap Calendars > Add Calendar > Add Subscription Calendar, and paste the link. Review the calendar name and confirm the subscription. On iOS 26 the next button is Find; older versions may say Subscribe. Keep the link private.
Apple documents the subscription steps. If you are offered an account choice, choose the account you want to store the subscription in; iCloud is useful when you want it across Apple devices using that Apple Account. A downloaded ICS file imported once is not an updating subscription.
2. Enable the local calendar in Calendars 5
Open Calendars 5, go to Settings > Local Calendars, and enable Local Calendars. Make sure the new subscribed calendar is enabled there. Readdle documents this subscribed-local-calendar route. You do not need to guess a From URL menu inside Calendars 5 or create a Google or Outlook account for this route.
3. Check one event in both apps
In Apple Calendar, select the new calendar and look for a known event date. Then check that date in Calendars 5. If Apple Calendar shows it but Calendars 5 does not, check Local Calendars access and visibility before subscribing again. If iOS asks for calendar access, review the request; this route needs access to local calendars to display them.
If your menu differs or Local Calendars is unavailable, tell support the exact Readdle app name and version plus your iOS version. Do not keep trying guessed menu paths.
Using a Google calendar instead?
A Google URL subscription and an Apple local subscription are different routes. Readdle notes that its Local Calendars route does not display read-only Google calendar subscriptions attached through iOS Settings. Do not assume adding a feed on Google or Outlook will make it appear in Calendars 5. Check how that account is connected in the app before changing anything.
Avoid duplicate subscriptions
If the calendar was already added, check which account contains it before following another route. Use the duplicate-calendar guide if you now see two copies. Adding the calendar and seeing an event are separate checks; do not mark setup complete merely because a settings menu was found.
