Managing Syncs

Can I edit synced calendar events or add reminders?

Learn how to customize Sync2Cal events, set reminders for connected Google and Outlook calendars, and understand the limits of calendar-link subscriptions.

Use Sync2Cal's Customize events settings for changes you want applied across a synced schedule. Calendar-link subscriptions are generally read-only, and manual edits to events in a connected calendar may be replaced by later updates.

Customize a synced calendar

Open your profile menu > My Calendars. On the synced calendar, open its menu and choose Customize events. The Event settings panel shows the options available for that calendar. Review the preview and choose Save settings.

Appearance options vary by calendar. Changing the display does not change the organizer's schedule or publish changes to other subscribers. Settings take time to reach your calendar; see update timing.

Set reminders for connected Google or Outlook calendars

For an existing calendar synced through a connected Google or Microsoft account, Event settings includes a Reminders control. Turn it on, choose how far before an event you want the reminder, and save.

For timed events, zero minutes means the event's start time. The maximum supported lead time is 28 days. For all-day events, read the explanation and choose the alert time shown in the panel: a short lead time such as 30 minutes becomes an alert on the previous day, not 30 minutes before midnight.

Check an upcoming event in the destination app after the change arrives. Your app and device must also allow notifications. A saved reminder does not bypass a muted app, Focus mode, or browser notification settings. Google's notification guide explains its app-level controls.

What about Apple Calendar or a calendar added using a link?

Sync2Cal does not offer the same reminder control for calendars added using a subscription link. Reminder behavior depends on the calendar app. Check the app's available calendar and notification settings; do not assume it supports editable alerts on every subscribed feed.

Apple describes subscribed calendars as calendars you cannot edit in its calendar-editing guide. An imported file is different: it creates a separate copy you manage, but that copy does not receive future source updates.

Can I change one event's title, time, or notes?

For a managed Google or Outlook calendar, do not rely on manual edits remaining unchanged after a sync. Sync2Cal continues updating the event from its source and your Sync2Cal settings.

If you need personal notes or a separate reminder that you control, create a separate event in your own calendar. That personal copy will not automatically follow schedule changes. If the original event is wrong, report it so we can investigate the source.

Turn off a reminder

Return to Customize events, turn Reminders off, and save. Check the destination after the update. If another alert remains, inspect the app's own notification settings or a second copy of the event. Reset restores default event settings and clears a reminder saved through this panel.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set reminders before I have synced the calendar?

The Sync2Cal reminder control is available in the settings of an existing Google or Outlook account-connected calendar. Finish setup first, then open Customize events.

Will editing a subscribed event update the organizer’s schedule?

No. Your personal edits do not change the publisher’s schedule. A read-only subscription may not allow editing at all.

Why did an all-day event reminder happen the day before?

Sync2Cal handles all-day reminders using whole days before the event and the alert time selected in Event settings. Short offsets use the previous day; check the explanation shown beside the setting.
