Wrong event times or timezone issues

If a Sync2Cal event appears at the wrong time, compare the same event and date in your calendar, on Sync2Cal, and on the organizer's schedule. Check the timezone each view uses before assuming the event itself is wrong.

Is every event shifted, or only one?

If many timed events are shifted by the same number of hours, check your app's display timezone and your device settings. If just one event differs, check for a changed start time or a source-data problem.

For example, 18:00 UTC and 14:00 in a place observing UTC minus four hours are the same instant. An event near midnight can correctly appear on different calendar dates in different timezones.

Are all your events off by the same number of hours?

Sync2Cal saves each timed event as an exact moment, and your calendar app shows it in the app's own timezone. If every event is shifted by the same amount, your calendar app or device is probably set to a different timezone than yours (for example GMT or UTC). Change the display timezone using the steps for your app below. Your existing events then move to your local time automatically, with nothing to re-add.

Check Google Calendar

On a computer, open Google Calendar > Settings > Time zone and check Primary time zone. If the website and your phone disagree, check the phone's calendar timezone settings as well as its system clock. A calendar app can use a different timezone from the device.

Use Google's timezone instructions for your device. You do not need to shift each subscribed event manually to change the timezone in which you view it.

Check Apple Calendar

On iPhone, check Settings > Apps > Calendar > Time Zone Override. An override can keep Calendar showing a selected timezone while you travel. Also check Settings > General > Date & Time. On older iOS versions, Calendar settings may appear directly under Settings.

On Mac, check the timezone shown by Calendar if time zone support is enabled. Compare that with your system timezone. Apple explains how Calendar's timezone display works.

Check Outlook

In Outlook on the web or new Outlook, open Settings > Calendar > View and check Display my calendar in time zone. In classic Outlook for Windows, use File > Options > Calendar > Time zones.

Check daylight saving and all-day events

Use a named regional timezone rather than assuming a fixed UTC offset throughout the year. Countries can change clocks on different dates, so the time difference between two locations can temporarily change.

An all-day event represents a date rather than a precise start time. If an event is intentionally shown as an all-day banner, check its event settings before treating the lack of a clock time as an error. Do not interpret a date-only release as a confirmed midnight release.

If the source time is wrong

If the organizer changed the schedule, follow postponed and rescheduled events. If the organizer and Sync2Cal disagree, report the incorrect event with the original source, date, and timezone.

If Sync2Cal shows the correct time but your calendar has the old one, check update timing and whether you imported a static file. Editing a managed event yourself may be overwritten by a later sync.
