Managing Syncs
What happens when an event is postponed, cancelled, or rescheduled?
Schedule changes must reach Sync2Cal and then your calendar. Learn how to check a changed event, a cancellation, or a postponement without creating duplicate copies.
A schedule change must first reach Sync2Cal from the calendar's source, then reach your calendar through your connection or subscription. An announcement by the organizer does not mean every calendar app has already received the change.
When an event moves to a new time
Compare the organizer's latest schedule with the public Sync2Cal event list. If Sync2Cal has the new time, your calendar may still be waiting for delivery or a subscription refresh. If Sync2Cal still has the old time, send us the official update using the event-reporting guide.
Keep the subscription active rather than downloading another file. Adding the schedule again can create duplicates. See how updates reach your calendar.
When an event is postponed without a new date
There may not yet be a confirmed replacement time. Depending on the source, a postponed event may be marked, removed from upcoming events, or remain pending a later correction. Do not treat an old calendar time as confirmation that the event is still happening.
Check the organizer's announcement before making travel or attendance plans. We cannot invent a replacement date that the organizer has not published.
When an event is cancelled
The source may remove the event or publish an updated status. The way that information appears in Sync2Cal and your app depends on how the source represents the change and whether the update has been processed.
Do not expect every cancellation to appear with the same 'Cancelled' label or to disappear immediately. If an officially cancelled event remains unchanged, report the calendar page, affected event, and official cancellation notice.
Why does my calendar still show the old event?
- The source or Sync2Cal may not yet reflect the change.
- Your calendar app may not yet have fetched the updated subscription.
- You may be viewing an imported file or a personal copy, which does not update with the source.
- A second calendar may still contain the old event. Check duplicate events.
- Your connection or account access may have stopped. Use the stopped-sync checklist.
For a time difference rather than a schedule change, check timezone settings. Compare the exact event date and timezone before reporting a mismatch.
Frequently asked questions
Will a downloaded ICS file receive a rescheduled time?⌄
No. An imported file is a snapshot. A live subscription or supported account connection is needed for ongoing source updates.
Does a postponed event always disappear immediately?⌄
No. Sources represent postponements differently, and delivery takes time. Check the organizer’s latest notice if the event’s status matters for your plans.
